Kaplow Hears from Gen Z at Seventeen’s Voices of the Year Panel

Kaplow attended Seventeen's Voices of the Year panel at Hearst Tower this week to hear directly from the Gen Z recipients on their activism, misconceptions of their generation, brands and the power of social media. The event was attended by team members across all three of Kaplow's verticals and yielded some interesting learnings:

  1. Gen Z is not as attached to their geographical community as they are the community they identify with.

  2. Brands mistakenly take a homogenized view that Gen Z all think, speak and care about the same issues.

  3. Brands can successfully reach Gen Z through strong and authentic storytelling.

  4. If a brand builds a timeless product, Gen Z will find it.

  5. TikTok is consumer goods heavy, but demands transparency – the app doesn’t leave room for any greenwashing.
